During a stop today in Jones County, Sen. Roger Wicker announced he was co-authoring a bill in the Senate with Sen. Thad Cochran known as the 2008 Gas Price Reduction Act.
The aim: to lower gas prices.
The bill would accomplish that by opening more sources of oil here in the United States.
“It addresses coastal drilling and oil shale development, encourages development of alternative energy sources and cracks down on speculators,” Wicker said.
Wicker said he did not know whether the bill would be able to come to the floor for a vote because of Democratic opposition.
